ST. Ives Green Tea Scrub Review (Blackhead clearing)

ST Ives is one of those brands which i have been known for many years now.  My sister and college friends used to have different products from this brand, so its kind of old gold for me. Previously i had used apricot scrub and when i saw this new tube i immediately grabbed it.
Besides the brand what actually grabbed my attention was Salicylic Acid and Green Tea.
These 2 ingredients have many proven skin care properties. I usually look for salicylic acid and retinol in my skin care products. This scrub has one of my most preferred ingredients (Salicylic acid). What this acid actually do? Let's have a look!

Salicylic Acid

It's been known for long  that Salicylic Acid is good for acne prone skin. It has gained a lot popularity in skin care industry due to its amazing properties.
Its also called BetaHydroxy Acid. This is an oil solving acid which dissolves your skin sebum (skin oil) and penetrates deep in the skin layers to fight acne. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which helps in opening clogged pores and also reduces redness and swelling.  It softens dry, thick layer of the skin which is then replaced by the new skin. That is why "Its a great Exfoliater with skin healing and calming properties".

Caution
  • 2% is the ideal amount we should look for in our product
  • Excessive use of this will make your skin dry and flaky
  •  Once a day will be ideal
  • Do not double the usage for example you must not use 2 or 3 products with salicylic acid in a single day like using face wash and then cream with salicylic acid isn't a good idea
Green Tea

Green tea is loaded with anti aging and anti inflammatory properties. It has potent antioxidants  and skin soothing properties which  heals sun damaged skin. It also works as an astringent to shrink pores. It also reduces the production of pores.

Texture

Its creamy with microfiber. This exfoliant is so light on skin that its microfibers wont feel harsh on skin nor damage it. It also smells so so good. It gives so refreshing feeling while massaging and after drying out face.

Pros

  • Non- Comedogenic (wont clog pores)
  • Anti-Inflammatory

  • Meditate acne
  • Paraben free (cancer causing chemical)

Cons

  • Makes skin dry in winter
