Derma Shine Oily Skin Kit Review / DIY Home Facial

 

Derma Shine is one of the fast growing skin care brand in Pakistan these days. When i first heard about this brand, i wanted to give it a try because of the quality of their packaging and good reviews. Currently they don’t have a separate website where they sell only derma shine products but they are selling all their products with the website name Lipcara. They have so many varieties for different skin types like:

I ordered an Oil Free Facial Kit which includes 6 products. 5 of them are in tubes and 1 is in big pump bottle.

You get a booklet with this kit which tells you how to use this kit. 

Step One:

Cucumber Cleansing Milk

If you have makeup on, its a good idea to first clean your makeup with an oil or milk based cleanser. For oily skin, I don’t prefer oil on my skin but if you have dry skin then you can use oils to remove makeup and cleanse your skin. 

How to use

Just pump a generous amount of lotion and apply on face. Gently massage it on your skin with only finger tips and light to no pressure. Massage for 4 to 5 minutes and then wipe it off with cotton pads. Once its all removed, your skin is ready for the wet cleanser.

Quality and Texture 

The quality of the product is good with a large, good quality pumping bottle. The smell is very pleasant like cucumbers and the color is light green. Texture is creamy and smooth. Its not a very thick cleansing milk and doesn’t feel heavy on my oily/combo skin. It leaves my skin clean and clears out my black heads and white heads but not the toughest ones.

Optional Step/ Extraction

If you want to use black head pin then its a good time to use it while cleansing milk on. I don’t recommend steaming on oily skin as it enlarges pores and break you out. I also don’t recommend to be harsh on your skin with black head pin as it leaves marks on skin. Be gentle and try to take out as much black heads as possible. Do not use black head pin on the problematic area of the skin where there is acne.

Step Two

Foaming Face Wash

This is from their pure white range.

How to use:

Wet your face and squeeze a little on your hand. Gently rub this all over your face focusing on T-zone. Give a good rub of 4 to 5 minutes and then rinse off or remove with a wet facial sponge.

Quality and Texture:

The quality of this face wash is good with a thick texture. You need to press hard to take it out. Its not runny so you have to take it on your hand and then take a little amount for each area.

It has a good minty fragrance with cooling effect. It leaves your skin clean and fresh. You will feel menthol kind of feeling on your skin which is very mild and not itchy or irritating at all. Due to its cooling properties, its a good choice for scorching summer.

Step Three:

Foaming Scrub

Scrubbing is the most crucial part of any skin care regimen. It clears your black heads and pores.

How to use:

Wet your face and apply a generous amount on areas where there are more black and white heads. Gently scrub it in a circular motion. Rinse off with water.

Quality and Texture

This has a very thick texture too. Though its a papaya scrub but you won’t feel any papaya smell in it. It has a very mild and pleasant smell.

Step Four:

Mix Fruit Skin Polish

Once your skin is all clear from dirt and other issues, its a good time to apply this ready to use skin polish.

How to use

Skin polish comes in different forms where you mix solutions, use bleaching powders or oxidation. This ready to use skin polish is convenient and can be use alone once or twice a week.

On wet face, apply this and massage with gentle hands for a good 5 to 7 minutes. Rinse off once you are done.

Quality and Texture 

The quality of the product seems OK. Texture is very runny. I always end up spilling some. As compared to the rest of the products, its extremely watery. If we talk about the smell then its a bit off. I don’t like its smell. Though its mix fruit but there nothing fruity in the fragrance. Texture is grainy which is suitable for exfoliation, if you use it all alone.

Step Five

Lemon Peel Off Mask

Mask is an important step of any facial. Depending upon its texture and form it shrinks pores and clears out any remained dirt.

How to use

Since, its a peel off mask, we apply it on dry skin. For easy removal, apply a thick layer on your face. Let it dry for 7 to 10 minutes or touch to see if its completely dried or not. Peel off gently starting from chin and jaw line. The right method to remove any peel off mask is upwards. As it pulls your skin so, do it in upward direction. It will pull the stubborn black or white heads and also some thin facial hair.

Quality and Texture 

Quality is good with very light lemony fragrance. I tried it twice but it always make my skin so itchy that i end up washing it. As we know, lemon has some antiseptic properties which makes skin little itchy and irritated specially if you have acne or other problems. 

If you can cope with this itchiness, you can apply this peel off mask without any doubt. 

** I go for fuller’s earth mask or simple mud mask.

Step Six

Toner

This is an important and mostly ignored step if skin care regimen. When we use peel off masks or any other sort of masks, they leave our skin more susceptible to dirt and microorganisms. The pores are clean but open now. We need toner to shrunken the pores once again. For this reason we apply toner with cotton pad all over the face and let it dry. This kit doesn’t come with a toner. Step Seven

Almond and Honey Massage Cream

This is the final step of this facial kit.

How to use

Once we are done with face mask, our all steps are done. Now comes the hydration part where we need to provide moisture to our skin for any excessive cleansing. Sometimes, facial leaves our skin over dried and flaky. It happens because of over washing and cleansing which removes the healthy oil from our skin. 

With this massage cream you can moisturise your face and massage to calm it down. 

Use a gentle circular motion with very light pressure.

Quality and Texture 

This is a very rich cream with mild pleasant fragrance and pale yellow color. Its not over greasy and seems good for oily skin people. It gets absorbed perfectly into my skin and i don’t wipe it off afterwards. If you feel oily after its application, wipe it off with a cotton pad or dry wipes. 

My Verdict 

I find this kit convenient and suitable for oily skin except the peel off mask part. 

It comes with all the essentials needed for a good DIY home based facial. The price range is also affordable for all Derma Shine products.
