Summer Skin Care / Oily Skin Care
Oily skin type is the most trickiest skin type to deal with. Its acne prone skin type with clogged pores and more sebum production. In summer, people with such skin type face a lot of problems including acne, black and white heads, dark spot etc.
To cope up with all such skin issues, people with oily skin must take extra precautions. If you have oily/combo skin then you must know how to deal with your skin in summer.
Today i’m going to share with you a healthy daily regimen to follow specially in summer season to avoid all skin related issues.
Healthy Intake:
So, lets first talk about the things you take in your stomach to control any skin issue right from the root point. Most of the time people spend so many on their skin care buy forget to pay attention on the diet they are taking. Skin related issues can’t be solved by only superficial treatments. A healthy diet plays a key role here. Things to keep in mind:
Hydration: its a very important step to keep your skin out of troubles. Keeping your body hydrated will keep your skin hydrated too. It will directly effect your sebum production which will produce less amount of oil.
Taking fresh juices will not only hydrated your body but will provide different Vitamins to keep your skin healthy too, specially Vit.C juice.
Avoid Oily and Spicy Food: As we know oily skin already produces plenty amount of oil. This oil is what invites more germs and pollutants to your skin. Which in turn clog your pores and produces black heads and acne. In such case, consuming kore oily food will automatically increase the sebum production. Same thing happens when you consume spicy food. Spicy food irritate your stomach which as a reaction produces acne...
In summer, you must avoid such foods and keep your body hydrated.
Now, lets talk about the the skin care regimen which can benefit us in summer.
Grease Proof Skin:
The key to keep your oily skin healthy is to keep it clean. In summer, we sweat a lot. Skin produces more oil and every time our skin look shiny and greasy.
So, the best thing is to keep your skin clean by proper cleansing and washing. There are many cleansers/ face wash available in the market which are suitable for oily skin. Some of my recommendations are Read Here
Daily cleansing with a good face wash/ cleanser will keep your skin clean. Do not use soap on your skin. No doubt It removes oil from your skin but in reality it drains out a single drop of healthy oil which our skin needs to stay hydrated. It will make your skin super dry that it will start flaking out and you might get irritated.
Face Pack:
We usually stick to applying face masks only when we do a proper facial. Actually its not correct. Face pack has a power to freshen your skin so, why to wait for 15+ days to apply it?
For oil skin Mud Mask or Clay Masks (Fuller’s Earth Mask) are ideal. Mud absorbs the excess oil from our pores and tightens our pores too. Alongside, Mud or clay has antiseptic properties too which controls the spread of bacteria and other particles trapped in our pores. It controls shine too.
So, applying a good clay mask every other day in a very hot humid summer day will relieve your skin.
A Good Toner: We all know the importance of toner for our skin. But for oily skin people toner or astringent are a blessing in disguise. It not only helps clearing the dirt but also tightens up the pores and decreases the amount of black/white head production.
I recommend applying toner after every time you cleanse your skin but if you have a sensitive skin then you must use a mild toner. I prefer chilled rose water spray as a toner to avoid more and more chemicals on my skin.
Get a rose water spraying bottle and keep it in the refrigerator. Every time when you wash your face or come from outside, spray a generous amount and pat pat pat... on your skin. Do not rub or wipes, just pat with your fingers and give it few seconds to dry.
A Light and Gel Based Night Cream / Moisturiser:
Skin care is incomplete if you don’t properly moisturise your skin. For oily skin, gel based moisturiser or night creams are best. I prefer putting generous amount of Aloe Vera gel before bed. Firstly, it keep my skin nourished all night and secondly, my skin doesn’t sweat after applying this at bed time.
For night cream, any light weight night cream which may include Dr. Rashel whitening series or Vit.C series.
You can also apply the gel based serum but I don’t prefer oil based serums specially in summers.
*Avoid sleeping with makeup on, no matter how tired you feel. Makeup products layer our skin which is very important to be removed to let our skin breath through the night.
